Books

Went to the Austin Quilt Festival last week and saw
the most beautiful quilts. There were a mix
of modern and traditional.

As for my own quilt I'm done with the top and
bottom and have sent it off to be quilted. I also
made the binding for the quilt and have that
ready to go once I get the quilt back.

I'm excited to see how it has turned out. It was my
first quilt besides the sampler quilt that I made
for my beginning quilting class.

I also have a pile of books I bought in Austin to read
that I'm excited about.

While I'm waiting for my quilt to come back
I'm working on some pillows from an Amy Butler pattern.
Will post pictures of the work in progress later.

uvalde texas:

Briscoe-Garner Museum

We took a day trip to Uvalde, Texas
and visited the Briscoe-Garner Museum.

Two famous politicians from this area.
I'm a history fanatic so it was interesting
learning more about these two
individuals.

We also had fun looking at this beautiful
house.

month of July

It  has been awhile since my last post.
So much has happened in my life.
I finished the sampler awhile back
but never posted photos of it.

It was fun making this quilt. It has inspired me to continue with
   quilting.

the month of may:

I'm very excited about taking a quilting class. We are working
on four different panels where four different techniques
are taught.  This panel above is learning how to appliqué.
I really enjoy this class and never thought quilting
was easy, but never thought it was as challenging as it is.
Applique is very challenging. Apparently, quilts that
are appliquéd  are priced higher because of the extra work
involved.  I LOVE quilting and can hardly wait to
get done with my class and start another quilt.

hill country:

outdoors

We went to what is know as the hill country here in Texas
and found some pretty floss at one of the local stores
plus Nancy Drew fabric, which I'm excited about!
I've been re-reading a Nancy Drew book..sometimes a simple
book sounds good to me, which then gives me more time
to work on embroidery and sewing findings. :)
And that dark blue sky looks like something from
a Dutch painting, which I love.

off:

I have a few days off from work and have a list of things I want to do
  • bake a carrot cake...yummy
  • sew, sew, sew....heaven
  • work on my embroidery....love
  • read....I love my books
  • listen to beautiful music...Philip Glass
  • paint with wondrous watercolors
  • take my daisy for long nightly walks
  • Oh, yeah bake more bread since I just used the last piece below
It doesn't take much to make me happy...Seriously who needs diamonds and fur coats?

Our new city, last leg of  summer that looked dreamy, some small items gifted to us hanging on the wall and
the small gift I found wondering by himself not too long ago.
